SNOW!!!!

Wow, what a year for Christchurch! The snow has really been "the icing on the quake". Being back at school today was excititng for us all, especially when we held a secret snowball fight round the back of the hall!

Report on Anacondas

Anacondas Anacondas are reptiles that belong to the constrictors family. They are about 10m long, live in rivers and like to hang from trees. But that is only three of the many things you will learn in this report. So came along and find out lots more about anacondas. Anacondas have camouflage skin so they can blend in with their surroundings. Did you know they are one of the two largest snakes in the world? They are about 10m long and weight 250kg. Because anacondas live in streams they have eyes on the top of their heads so they can see what is above them. A female anaconda is about five times bigger than a male. Anacondas live in South America in either slow streams or swamps. They like to stay in the water because they are quite slow and other animals could get them when they are on land. There natural habitat includes tropical places and wet areas. Anacondas have very different behaviour to humans. The females sometimes eat the males. The female must carry the young for 6-7 mounts and in that period of time they can’t eat anything. While they are in the water if there is any small crocodiles they will eat them slithering underneath them and attacking them from below. When they attack there pray they grab them at their neck and bite then with their super sharp teeth then drag them into the water and squeeze them in till they suffocate or drown. I know I would never want to come face to face with an anaconda and I am sure you wouldn’t like to too. By Eva
